My Harry Potter review
Wow. Me, Seff and his friend Chris went to the 12:20am showing of the movie. The 12:01am and 12:10am shows were sold out and packed to the cauldrons brim with uber nerds. I can just imagine how many of them brought wands in with them. I suspect the first two shows could have doubled for a singles meet.
As expected, pieces from the book were cut out or edited from the movie. However, those pieces were not critical to the story. I give this movie a big-ass thumbs up. You would think, with a book this big and with so much descriptive content, the movie would need to be cut in two or spliced to oblivion. Not so! I do think the ending left a bit to be desired though. I think I need to re-read that book =
Things changed:
1. Not much other than the portkey and intro's at the Quidditch World Cup were shown (before the pending disaster).
2. A man summons the dark mark, not a house elf.
3. The reporter from the Daily Prophet (dont recall her name at present) wasn't turned into a lady bug. (this was pointed out to me by Seff but I don't remember it in the book).
4. Hagrid and the giant lady (yeah, I don't remember her name either) don't get into a fight (also pointed out to me by Seff, another detail I don't remember).
5. Seff mentioned something about the final task in the maze. Something about Cedric and Harry that, although similar, was changed from the book.
So, that's all I can come up with right now. On a funny note, we caught a glimps of a few HP nerds there as we were leaving. They, no doubt, were from the previous showings and were lounging around discussing hexes, herbology and the best way to sneak back into bed. Good times. Guys and Gals alike dressed up as Gryffindore students and a few were in capes (pink no less). Where's the comic dog when you need him?
